Ronnie Gilman Alcook

Ronnie, you were two months older than me. I was born and raised in Iowa. We shared so much growing up in America during the Fifties and Sixties. I didn't serve. Uncle Same said I was morally unfit to kill Viet Cong. Thank you for your service. May G-d have mercy on your soul and may your memory be a blessing.

do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

As long as you are remembered you will never truly die....
