The Faces Behind the Names
Bernard Albert Teske III
Marine Corps Lance Corporal
Born: March 29, 1945
Died: May 11, 1966
Our son, Bernard "Butch" Albert Teske was born in Faribault, Minnesota, and moved with his family to Excelsior, Minnesota in 1950. He was a good kid, and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his Dad. Butch was a 1963 graduate of Minnetonka High School and had wanted to go to auto mechanics school in the fall because he was interested in motors and cars, but the classes were filled. He worked at the Minnetonka Country Club, and at Tonka Toys, before entering the Marine Corps. He was trained at San Diego and Camp Pendleton, and was sent overseas in July, 1965. Corporal Bernard A, Teske III was killed May 11, in Da Nang, Vietnam, when the tank he was driving hit a land mine. He is survived by his parents, Cyril and Betty Condon; sisters, Linda and Constance; and two brothers, James and Kenneth, all of Excelsior. He is buried at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Faribault, Minnesota.
