Remembering a friend

I served with Robert and vividly remember the day he was killed. I knew him for only a little over a month, but his memory has been with me for over 50 years. I can only imagine the pain his family has suffered. God bless them all.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Robert Earl Terrell, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

Final Mission of PFC Robert E. Terrell

On April 26, 1968, PFC Robert E. Terrell, a Raider from D Company, 2nd Battalion, 501st Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, was hunkering down in a cemetery with a buddy in the late afternoon when a booby trap detonated, fatally wounding PFC Terrell and grievously wounding his friend.
