do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
As long as you are remembered you will never die....
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.

As long as you are remembered you will never die....

A Haunting Remembrance
My name is Mark Eastman I was a member of the burial detail that laid Johnny to rest. I was in Basic training at Ft. Polk and was selected to go to Farmerville as a part of his honor guard. I had forgotten most of the details until tonight, I remember the sadness was pervasive for the family that day and somewhat daunting since I was on the same road. I became a paratrooper and served in Vietnam. I folded his flag and returned his remains to the earth.

My cousin...
Johnny B. was my cousin and we shared birthday, Sept. 21. He was the youngest member of his family. My mother attended his funeral and she said they (the funeral procession) drove by his family home real slow. I know that must have been really sad. The picture of him drying his amno was published in the newspaper just a few days prior to his being killed. May he RIP and he will be remembered always.
