Thank You

Dear Sp4 George Tackett, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Your 74th birthday is soon, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today is Father's Day. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Christmas

Eddie, it's almost Christmas and another one without you. Just doesn't seem like much of a celebration without you, Mom and Dad and all the others who have passed on. About 52 years ago you gave your life in Vietnam but your memory is as alive today as then in the hearts of us who love you. RIP, my brother and Merry Christmas.

VISIT FROM A FELLOW VETERAN

My brother, James and I had a visit today from Frank Valeri who served with George (Eddie) in Vietnam. He wasn't with him when he was killed because Mr. Valeri had been transferred to the fire base earlier. We visited Eddie's grave at Manning Chapel Cemetery and I felt that it was a moving experience for Mr. Valeri. And to see him kneel at Eddie's tombstone made it a moving experience for me, also. Frank Valeri lives in Texas but we hope to see him again as he said he travels east about once a year. He said he usually doesn't come this way but on his next trip we hope he comes by again. He is a very nice man and was a good friend of our brother, George Edward (Eddie)(Red) Tackett. Eddie's been gone for a little more than 50 years but I don't believe a day goes by without me thinking of him.
