Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Charles Michael Swaim, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

To Put A Face With A Name

Chuck, thanks to the efforts of Councilman Jim McLean from Bethel Park, PA (where you and your family were originally residents) and who had an article published in our local community paper 'The Almanac' searching for any family members so your name can fovever be enscribed on the Bethel Park Veterans Memorial and to your twin sister, Margi, who was so kind to provide me with this photo, it is with great pride and humility for me to honor your memory and the sacrifice you made for our country by uploading this remembrance and your photo. You are not forgotten and remain in the hearts of many all these years later. You have been designated to be one of God's special angels, along with the love of my life, who also sacrificed his life during this war. God Bless You Chuck for being who you were and for all you did--we live in freedom to this day thanks to heroes like you.

To My Twin Brother

So many years have past since part of me died along with you. What would the years have been like if we could have shared them together? Age has crept up on me but you have remained young because when I think of you thats how I remember
you. Til we see each other again

Marine who escourted you home

Chuck, I was the Marine who escorted you back home from California to Michigan on 2/17/67. I was just 20 at that time and recently back from Nam, your family treated me so well and I know that they miss you to this day. I will never forget bringing you home. Semper Fidelis and rest well!
