THE WALL OF FACES

Great sadness fills our hearts today
As pipes and drums, in slow march play.
A comrade’s fallen by the way,

This hero to the very end
Was more than just a casual friend,
Who would a stranger’s life defend,

The character this life portrayed

Dear Sp4 David Styles, Thank you for your service as a Medical NCO. Your 74th birthday is soon, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Memorial Day just passed to honor you. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

I was a platoon medic with Dave. It was a terrible day where we lost some great comrades. I almost lost my life that day as well. Dave was a great guy and I'm to call him my friend and comrade in arms

Specialist Four David Ira Styles, Served with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division.

SP4 David I. Styles served with 1st Platoon, Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry. On March 29, 1969, Delta Company was reconning a series of tunnels 10 miles west of LZ Bronco in Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam. On this second day of the mission, the company was drawn into a NVA battalion-sized ambush which would last most of the day. Five Delta soldiers lost their lives in the ambush including SP4 William C. Gould Jr., 1LT James B. Claybough, SP4 Michael L. Wilkins, SP4 Robert O. Cole, and SP4 David I. Styles.
