Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Steven Drew Strube, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Always Remembered
Dear Steven,
Hello, I am a Gridley High School student. My class and the rest of my high school are doing The Gridley High Posting Project. We are posting remembrances for all of those who fought in the Vietnam War. I wanted to let you know that if it wasn’t for what you did for our country America wouldn’t be the same today. We need more daring and brave soldiers like you. You will always be remembered. No one will forget a courageous soldier like you. Thank you and God Bless.

A Fellow Blackhawk
Steve was a quite, easygoing guy who was the driver of the mortar track, A 2-9er. He strayed just a little from the tank tracks he was following and hit a mine that killed him and wounded the entire crew. 2-9er was never replaced and that seems to be a fitting tribute to Steve.
