Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Chatwin Arnold Strother, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

A Brother's Love
I will never be able to understand the love that my brother had for his family and everyone he served with in Vietnam. All I can do is express how I felt about my big brother. I was very young when my oldest brother Chat was killed in Vietnam. I was even younger when our father passed away. Chat was only 13 years old and took over as the man of the house. Chat became not only my oldest brother but like a father to my brother and I. He was there for his whole family. He had so much love for his family, country and friends. We all loved him dearly and miss him so much. Although he is not with us today his love continues to enrich our lives daily.

From the neighborhood to Viet Nam
We were buddies back in San Luis Obispo,Ca. It was a great neighborhood that we grew up in.You moved to Illinois in eighth grade and I figured I would never see you again. What were the odds that we would end up in the same unit in Viet Nam.You got there 15 days before I did!
I enjoyed renewing our friendship, but being there on May 29, 1970 and watching you being airlifted out of the jungle was the saddest day of my life.
I still go to the old neighborhood and visit my folks.I think of you and the enjoyable things we did as kids. You were always fun to be around.
I've got to know your kid brother Jeff, and his wife Donna the last few years. They are good people and you would be proud of them. I've told Jeff that because of your bravery in Viet Nam, many lives were saved.
It was an honor to have you as a friend.
