My friend Richard Bowers
I went through basic training with Richard and even though we only served together a short time I remember him as a friend. I did not find out about his death until many years later on the TWS site. I also found out we were assigned to the same unit, 196th Light Infantry, but we were in different battalions and never came in contact with each other. Rest in Peace old friend.

I'll never forget...
We used to trade baseball cards at McKinley Elementary school. You were a Dodgers fan. I was Yankee fan. We played ball at Jordan High School. You were a great player and so easy to talk to. We both went to Vietnam. I made it back. I think about you often.

Rememberance
Richard,
We were both serving in Vietnam when you went missing--I caught a chopper from Tan Son Knut to Fire Base Mace when I had a chance (the last place you were known to be) looking for any of your buddies I could find to find out anything I could about your status. I wasn't successful but I will never forget trying. But you know all this. I think of you often and always remember your birthday (23 October 1947---just a week before mine). RIP buddy. Thanks for your service. Miss your crazy sense of humor.
