I promised to say a prayer for you

Sir I never met you. I'm an entertainer now and I did a comedy show and your wife was in the audience. We thank the veterans during our show because it's the sacrifices that you and your families have made that make it safe that we can enjoy a night of laughter together. So I ask any veterans or family members to stand up so we can thank you properly. Your wife stood up. She came to me after the show and thanked me for it. We got to speaking and she told me your story that you never met your child. She never remarried. She will love you to the day she dies and beyond. I want to thank you for your sacrifice and I made her a promise that I will pray for you on the anniversaries of your death. I can tell by the way, she spoke of you that it was a deep love and admiration. Thank you for your sacrifice RIP sir.

Dear Lt William Stefko, Thank you for your service as an Infantry Unit Commander. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today is the 47th anniversary of the official end of the war. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

First day

I was at a briefing that night. The movie was the Magnificent Seven. So I went to see it. Some stayed back to play volley ball. I heard the mortar's drop in the tube the timing was just as they blew up the tunnel in the movie. The rounds landed right on the court. We lost 5 men that night. My LT lost both legs.
