Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC George Botes, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

Sacrifice

What is a sacrifice? Throughout everyones' lives a sacrifice has been given. In my eyes, your sacrifice was one that can not be more self-less and caring for other people. The one and only life that you had was given to your country so that i may have the rights to freedom of speech, religion. Although this is a post that i am doing for the "Gridley High School Posting Project," this is a topic that touches very close to my heart. I may never have the opportunity to sacrifice my life for my country the way you have had the chance to. In a few years when i join the army, im risking my life for my country. I may never have that opportunity that you did to die for your country. And because of what you gave up, that makes you a hero in not just my eyes, but in fellow Americans' eyes. I thank you for the ultimate sacrifice that you gave.
