Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP5 Thomas King Smith, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Hey, Im still counting on that trip we were planning before I came home in July 1968. I was so sorry that you were gone. I got in touch with Allen Academy and let them know that you were gone. I did meet your brother on the phone. I dont know how he found me but he did. I had planned to go meet him and tell him about you but he comitted suicide before I could go see him.

Allen Military Academy
TK Smith was a genuine man. I met him while attending Allen Military Academy in Bryan Texas. I lost touch with him for a few years and then we ran into each other in the HOBO Woods and again in Cu Chi. He was a tanker and attached to our Battalion 4/23 (Mech). I left country on July 27, 1968 and we planned to get together when he got home but that never happened. Im still saddened to one of the finest men I ever met. I love you brother. Rest in peace. Charlie. Track 9.
