Thank You

Dear PFC Llewellyn Smith, Thank you for your service as an Indirect Fire Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Spring has begun, and it's Lent. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

In his honor...

Feb. 14, 2002 – The Virgin Islands National Guard has announced a short ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, to pay tribute to Llewellyn A. Smith, a St. Thomas veteran who died in Vietnam, and to unveil a building sign at the original St. Thomas Armory in Subbase. The building was dedicated to PFC Smith in 1967, when it first came into use for the Reserves, but no identifying signage was placed. The original Armory, which now houses the V.I. Police Department Academy, is the brown building on the left across from V.I. Public Works.

Beloved brother...

Photos of Pvt. Llewellyn "Binks" Smith were graciously provided by his sister, Laraine Smith-Niles, of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. He was very fond of dancing and was often compared to Jackie Wilson, an American singer and dancer. An armory was named in "Binks" memory on the island.
