Thank You

Dear Sp5 Kenneth Smith, Thank you for your service as an Imagery Analyst. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Spring has begun, and it's Lent. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Awards

Kenneth should be recognized with the 219th Meritorious Unit Commendation since he is mentioned in the write-up for the award: Personnel of the section voluntarily performed daily visual reconnaissance missions over hostile terrain in South Vietnam and, from 1 May through 30 June, in Cambodia, greatly enhancing the timeliness of intelligence available to Headquarters II Field Force Vietnam. Personnel of this section obtained extremely low altitude hand held photography of selected key targets and areas of interest in both Cambodia and South Vietnam in support of operations against hostile forces in both areas. This photography, in connection with aerial visual reconnaissance reports from personnel of this section, provided Headquarters II Field Force Vietnam and US MACV intelligence on areas of interest where other types of intelligence weren't complete or often completely unavailable at the time. One member of the section was KIA while on a visual reconnaissance mission over Cambodia and was awarded the DFC posthumously. The intelligence provided by personnel of this section was instrumental in the development and planning of B-52 strikes on key targets and bombing strikes on bridges along enemy evacuation routes in Cambodia.
