THE WALL OF FACES

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Dear Lcpl Carey Smith, Thank you for your service as a Machine Gunner. I researched you on your 53rd anniversary, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Winter will end soon, and Lent has begun. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Several years ago I was contacted by Carey's nephew Bo Hanson; I was able arrange a trip to Georgia to visit Carey's grave and meet his family. They are great people that endured the loss of their son, brother and uncle with grace.

Found the news clippings my mother kept that were posted in the local papers
. Brings back a lot of memories of this fine marine and young man. I will always remember Carey as a young man whom I looked up to for his desire to serve.
