I miss you cuz

Bud was my cousin and I was named after his Mother. He was 3 years older but we looked a lot alike what with the red hair and freckles. I joined the Navy also and when I am home in Nashville always stop to visit his small corner of his now world. His heart was big and courage was great. Thank you for all that you did!

I knew him well...

Sloan and I went to Field-Med school together and was deployed to the 1st Marine Div, 26th Marines, 9th MAB. I remember the day he was killed very well. We were sweeping during an operation and I heard an explosion. Doc Sloan and some Marines were moving an injured party on a poncho when someone stepped on another land mine. I was the first Corpsman to his side and saw that he had received shrapnel to his heart between his flack jacket opening. The med-evac chopper (called for the first injured) was landing and we moved him to the chopper. His eyes were open but not responsive and there was no bleeding... he was gone. I remember Doc Sloan was well liked and respected by all of us Corpsmen who knew him.

Thus was my Uncle "BUD" and I was his favorite at 3 years old

This is my Uncle Bud whom I barley remember. I do know he left me a buch of saving bonds which you don't hear of anymore. he is sadly missed even after all these years. It's nice to be able to see others post such great things about him. We love you even today.
