honoring you.....

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.

Thank You

Dear Cpl John Silver, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Happy Valentine’s Day and Presidents' Day. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

50 Years Later......

It has been 50 years today since you were KIA in Vietnam. I don't how long it was after you were killed before your Mom was notified. I do remember walking home after school on a beautiful Spring afternoon and seeing the US ARMY staff car parked in front of your house. I hadn't heard yet what had happened but when my Mom came through the door the first thing she said was "did you hear about John." That I will never forget. I visit you each time I go home and just stop and say "hi."
I will never forget!
