MIA Bracelet
I wore a bracelet with Walter Sigafoos name on it as a teenager. I wrote a letter and my foggy brain seems to remember his wife wrote back to me with a photo. I think her name was Judy? I come from a long line of military in my family (uncle shot in Vietnam, survived) so I have a deep appreciation for your sacrifice. Forever grateful.

Damn lane line
To the family of Capt. Walter Sigafoos III; I wore your father’s MIA bracelet with great pride and hope as a young girl during the ‘70’s. At the time, I was on a swim team and our coaches encouraged us to remove any and all jewelry as they caused a “drag” that could make the difference in a race that could come down to one one-hundredth of a second. I didn’t take my bracelet off- and it caused quite a stir when it got caught in the lane line. I stopped swimming and stood up in the middle of the race so I could look for it. I will never forget the name Captain Walter Sigafoos the third. God Bless.

MIA bracelet
Hello to the family members who may be reading this. Please know that I wore Mr. Sigafoose’s MIA bracelet back in the mid 1970’s with great honor -for a couple of years. I only stopped wearing it when it got caught in a lane line in a swim meet- and the meet officials refused to stop the races to let me look for it. Completely broke my heart. It was such a cherished childhood memory: I think of that name - and his service often.
