A neighbor

I grew up in the neighborhood with George Sidelko. He was my brothers age. I used to deliver newspapers to his parents store, remembering his photo proudly displayed. At his funeral, his father tearfully gave me praise to my father. Feeling the pride, and two brothers avoiding the draft, years later I enlisted in the USN. Yours and all Veterans sacrifices are greatly appreciated.Too bad everyone doesn't understand.

My friend George

I knew George Sidelko from my growing up in New Hartford, NY. He was several years ahead of me in High School. In the summers we were both caddies at the Yahnundasis Golf Club. Numerous times we “double looped” eighteen holes with four golfers. George was of much greater strength than I and he would tend extra pins in order to give me a break. He was a fun loving person who drove a Vespa motor scooter and was always very kind to me. I was in class at Clinton Road Elementary with his younger sister Robbie. I was saddened by his death and have visited him at the wall each time I go. I was also inducted for military service from 1970-1972 but didn’t go to Viet Nam. I am nearing retirement from the US Army Reserves after 29 years. Mr. Lutz’s description of George’s service is sterling and reflects great credit upon him. God Bless you George.

Welcome Home George

I was George's plt. leader with the 4th plt. Delta Co. 4/3 11th Bde. Americal Div...I remember George well, he was built like a football linebacker, and could hump all day long, I still have a picture of him...he was one of three from the plt. killed in a mortar attack in the field, to this day I feel I should have been there, I was on R&R at the time...he was with Harold Tatem and Albert Davis of the 4th plt...I am proud to have served with them all...Welcome Home George...
