Thank You
Dear Lt Joseph Shreve, Thank you for your service as a Special Forces Qualified Infantry Unit Commander. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Happy Valentine’s Day. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

An American Flag Left At Your Grave
We left a flag at Joseph's grave this week at the Golden Gate National Cemetery. The 5th Special Forces Group was hit hard during the Mini-Tet Offensive of May 1968. Special Forces Master Sergeant Daniel Keyes is buried nearby. He too was KIA within two weeks of Joe. These were brave men that we dare not forget. God bless them all!

Never Forgotten
Dearest Joe,
Not a day goes by that I don't have memories of all the good times we had together. I finally found Mr. Donaldson who was near you the day you were killed. He tells me you represented the best our military has to offer. I'm glad you are at peace and know I visit the cemetary as often as I can and remember the day you were laid to rest. Your diamond remains with me.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear 1LT Joseph Lynwood Shreve Jr, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
