Your nephew

Hello,..my name is Marcus shiver. My father Carl, never liked to talk much about what happened. I really wish you could have been around to see all your family. I wish that you didn't have to make the ultimate sacrifice!!....we shall meet in heaven one day till that time you will never be forgotten!..

Such an UPBEAT guy with the BEST ATTITUDE about everything !

It is because of Charlie that I did NOT die along side him and I thank God for that day when we both went to join the Marines on the buddy plan, but Charlie got me to ' find something that will keep you out, cause I got a REALLY bad feeling about you going with me ' as he put it. I did, otherwise I might have died along with him. That is just the kind of guy Charlie was, ALWAYS thinking of the OTHER guy and NOT of himself. Rest in peace dear friend, you deserve it ! May God keep you close and safe forever !

Remembering An American Hero

Dear LCPL Charles Shiver Jr, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
