Uncle I never knew

My brothers and mother remember you and how sharp you looked in your military uniform. Only months away from deployment that was the last time they saw you alive. Being only two years old, they remember you holding me in your arms and all of the wonderful things about you. Now an adult with two boys of my own I wonder how my life would have been if things were different. The uncle I never knew or remember was there engraved in the wall for me to see and touch today. I does make me feel a little better that you will be there waiting forever.

Not Forgotten

"Sherman"
I met you only briefly in 1965,while you were stationed in Fort Benning, GA. Although I was only 7 years old, you were very kind and made a lasting impression on me. I was saddened when I learned of your death. I still think of you and am proud that you were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Never Forgotten

Dear Soldier,
We’ve never met. I’m a student from small Gridley High School working on a posting project for my history class. I was born years after your death. The only reason I know about you is from my history books and stories I’ve been told about the war. But I admire you, I have the utmost respect for you, and I am forever grateful to you. Your death was one among thousands, but was still quite significant. You are truly a hero and will always be remembered. May God bless you and your family.
Sincerely,
Natalie Stoller
