RECON 2 / 16

I WAS WITH DAVID ON 3 AUG 1969. I WAS THE FIRST ONE BY HIS SIDE. BEING A MEDIC I HOPED I COULD HELP HIM BUT I SAW INSTANTLY THAT I COULD NOT. I GAVE DAVID THE LAST RIGHTS AND THEN ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. I FOUND GEORGE, WHO ALSO WAS KILLED I OFTEN THINK ABOUT THEM AND THE OTHERS THAT WERE LOST.

Thank you on this Memorial Day

Good morning Uncle Dave,

This weekend myself and four other friends volunteered at the Wall that Heals. Saint Thomas Academy hosted the event. My family has visited you and the memorial in Washington DC as well. But it was special and important to be a small part of this weekend’s event honoring you and +58,000 that gave their lives for this country in Vietnam.

We will never forget your sacrifice and the sacrifice of those who made it home from war as well. Including, of course, Uncle Don. On this Memorial Day our family gives thanks and reflects upon our blessings for the ultimate sacrifice you and every soldier gave to protect our freedoms. God bless,

Paul, Tricia, Anna and Joe
