THANKS - WE REMEMBER - September 24, 1988
Ron attended Venice High School in California before coming to Berks County to live with his grandmother. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and was sent to Vietnam where he was a member of the 5th Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
In letters to his family, Ron said he was counting the days till he could come home.
Ron was wounded on two occasions by shrapnel and returned to his unit each time. He was killed by Viet Cong small-arms fire while on patrol in Quan Tin, near Da Nang.
Surviving at the time were his mother, father and one sister.
He had only 20 days left to serve in Vietnam.
He was 19 years old.
Semper Fidelis, Marine!
From the Berks County Vietnam Memorial dedication booklet.
