I was one of the men Dan, Doc Shey saved on a patrol in March. I owe him my life and so do many others. I did not know he received the CMA until years later but I was not surprised at all.

PFC Daniel J. Shea's exploits are chronicled on pages 132-133 of the book, "Death Valley," by Keith William Nolan. PFC Shea was a Medic, and while under heavy enemy fire, worked on four injured soldiers. Injured himself, he started towards a 5th soldier, when he was struck down by enemy fire.
