Private First Class Daniel John Shea, Served with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 196th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division, United States Army Vietnam. He was assigned to Company C, 3rd battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 196th Infantry Brigade, When He was Killed in Action.

PFC Daniel J. Shea's exploits are chronicled on pages 132-133 of the book, "Death Valley," by Keith William Nolan. PFC Shea was a Medic, and while under heavy enemy fire, worked on four injured soldiers. Injured himself, he started towards a 5th soldier, when he was struck down by enemy fire.
