Never Forgotten

I remember Forrest as a good soldier and proud father of his newborn son. On that terrible day during the Tet Offensive you were taken away from your fellow signalmen and you family by a mortar round that hit our barracks. I think about this day often and unfair it has been to you and your family. May your memory be eternal.

Ground Casualty

SP4 Forrest L. Bolin was a Field Radio Repairer and SP4 James Johnson Jr. a Communications Center Specialist. Both soldiers served with A Company, 52nd Signal Battalion. On February 6, 1968, they were at Can Tho Base Camp, west of Can Tho in the Mekong Delta in Phong Dinh Province, RVN, when the base came under a hostile mortar attack. Both Bolin and Johnson suffered fatal fragmentation wounds during the assault. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
