Memorial Day 2024
I remember hearing about you as a child as my brothers middle name is after your name. I am your niece and I’m sure you’d be proud that my brother and I are serving side by side in the military, even if it’s in the army. I wish we could have known you and met you but we have a few of your dress blue pins, rank pins, and uniform belt.

Ground Casualty
During the month of November 1969, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division conducted offensive operations within the I Corps Tactical Zone, the northernmost region of South Vietnam, bordering North Vietnam at the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone. The 3/5 Marines had primary responsibility for security of Liberty Bridge and Liberty Road northeast of An Hoa Combat Base. In addition to road and bridge security responsibilities, the battalion carried out limited search and clear operations along with extensive company patrol activities. Limited rice denial operations against the enemy were also conducted with substantial success. LCPL Jeffrey L. Bogue was a rifleman serving with K Company, 3/5. On November 12, 1969, Bogue was fatally injured while cleaning a .45 caliber pistol when the weapon accidentally discharged.
