saddened by your loss - rest in HIs arms
Michael was as everyone is saying - full of faith and generosity and courage. Never a negative word about anyone or anything. At our reunion one of our classmates still had the card telling of Michael's death in VietNam in his wallet and has never taken it out. Michael had a wonderful affect upon us, and in many ways, more than we realize.
Finding your name on The Wall, I took a rubbing and a photo and created a written haiku to your memory.

Never Forgotten
The last time we talked was in study hall looking at our final grades and we talked about what lay ahead for each of us after graduation. When you told me you were joining the Marines I was shocked! I had a hard time picturing you in uniform. Then two years later was shocked again when I heard of your death. You may be gone, but never forgotten, because when I too took the Oath "to protect and defend..." you were on my mind. After reading your citation I no longer think of you as that short and gentle friend, but rather as a Marine Hero that is bigger than life itself. Semper Fi my friend. I will be by to visit soon. Ray

Monson Academy class of 1965 : A classmate and friend
Michael was the tallest 5 feet ever recorded. He was kind, disciplined, strong and honorable. He had the gentleness of a lamb and the heart of a lion. It is no wonder he was a United States Marine. Each day he did his best to walk in Christ's footsteps.
Those who attended our 50th reunion all remembered him fondly. It was a privilege to have known him. God bless you, Mike. Semper Fi.
