We prayed for your safe return in 1967

Pat, I was just a teenager when you left for war. We were saddened by your disappearance and wore your bracelet. I still have mothers and my bracelets in my safe keeping. We visited your wife and children lots. I have visited the monument many times, I cannot understand war and why it continues in this world with the Bush Administration. What we know about Vietnam will be learned about IRAQ by the next generation. WAR KILLS good men, women, and children, civilian and military. I wish you could come home to the USA. I will remember you forever.

Not Forgotten

I have not forgotten you. I chair the Adoption Committee for The National League of Families of Prisoners of War and Missing in Action in Southeast Asia. We will always remember the 1,889 Americans still unaccounted for in Southeast Asia and the thousands of others that lost their lives. We will not stop our efforts until all of you are home where you belong.

We need to reach the next generation so that they will carry on when our generation is no longer able. To do so, we are attempting to locate photographs of all the missing. If you are reading this remembrance and have a photo and/or memory of this missing American that you would like to share for our project, please contact me at:

Continue the vigil...

I was 13 in 1967 and grew up during the Viet Nam War. When the POW/MIA bracelets first came out, my entire family bought them, and most of us still have them. I got Major Boggs' name on my bracelet. I remember when I got it, making a promise to wear it until he came home. I still have this bracelet 35 years later. I don't know Major Boggs, nor did I know anything about him until recently when I started researching the Viet Nam War. I found myself looking for him and was saddened to learn that he is now listed as Died while Missing and that his body has not been recovered. I pray that his family and loved ones have found peace and know that until he comes home, there are many of us who will continue the vigil.
