Do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Frankford High award honors Marine's memory

Anthony P. Sawicki
Howell Street, Oxford Circle

“Tony” Sawicki joined the Marine Corps a week after graduating from Frankford High School, where teachers remember him as a good student supportive of many school programs. An annual outstanding student award is presented each year at the school in Sawicki’s name. The 19-year-old lance corporal, a rifleman, was sent to Vietnam and assigned to the 3rd Battalion of the 26th Marines. Sawicki was killed near Quang Tri, Vietnam, on September 10, 1967, by fragments from an enemy mortar shell. He was engaged to be married. He was survived by his parents, a sister and brother.
