Remembered

DEAR MAJOR BOGARD,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AS A PILOT WITH THE AIR FORCE. SHOT DOWN THE DAY AFTER YOUR BIRTHDAY - OH GEE. YOU ARE STILL MIA.
PLEASE COME HOME.
IT HAS BEEN FAR TOO LONG FOR ALL OF YOU TO HAVE BEEN GONE. WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU HAVE DONE, AND YOUR SACRIFICE. WATCH OVER THE U.S.A., IT STILL NEEDS YOUR COURAGE. GOD BLESS YOU. MAY THE ANGELS BE AT YOUR SIDE. REST IN PEACE. YOU ARE ALL IN OUR PRAYERS. IT IS EASTER WEEK, AND PASSOVER - GOD'S BLESSINGS ON YOU.

I discovered Capt. Bogard's bracelet recently in a box

I wore Capt. Bogard's bracelet for years. I recently discovered it in a box, broken in two. Must have done that when I heard he was a casualty.

Anyway, I have both halves- if anyone knows Mr. Bogards family, and thinks anyone would want this, I'd be happy to have you put them in touch with me and I'll send it to them.

American Hero still remembered

As a young man in collage during the war, I proudly supported the troops. I wore Capt. Bogard's bracelet and prayed for him and his family. On a recent trip to DC I visited the wall and was moved to tears with the great sacrifice that was made for our country. Thank you.
I continue to pray for this family today and hope someday they will have the answers they are looking for.

Stiil Wearing my Bracelet

I was in 7th grade in 72-73 and the thing for us girls to do was to donate to POW/MIA concern and receive a bracelet. Mine had Capt. Bogard's name. We could send letters to the famiily in care of the charity, which I did a number of times - always receiving a note back. I STILL WEAR THAT BRACELET! It is in it's 4th decade and still readable. I never take it off and wore it at my wedding and births of my children. If remains are found, then I will remove it. Praying for that to happen....

CRASH SITE TO BE EXCAVATED

On April 16, 2016, representative family members of Lonnie Pat Bogard and William H. Ostermeyer were told by officials of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency that their missing F4-D Phantom jet is scheduled to be excavated Aug/Sept 2016. The site is located in central western Vietnam. The men disappeared on a night mission 44 years ago. The families are guardedly hopeful that remains will be found and returned home. We love you, remember you, and have never forgotten you. God speed to all.
