Dear Lcpl Carl Russell, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today we honor all in heaven, we honor you. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

I am sorry that you never got see your daughter Maryrosa, my mother, grow into the beautiful lady that she was. I am sorry I never got to meet you. You will forever be loved and cherished. With love, honor, and respect; may you continue to rest in peace grandfather.

I am from Chicago and was born on a February 1,1967, the day you died. I went to the Vietnam Memorial in 1995 and etched your name, after I looked for someone who lost their life, the day I was born, February 1, 1967; the day my brother was born, February 24, 1966; and the day my sister was born, February 24, 1969. I appreciate site the sacrifice that you and your family made to defend our country. Yes, you were all too young and I know your family mourns your loss. My daughter died from cancer, two years ago, at the age of six. I feel pain every day from her loss and know your family feels your loss.
