My best friend in grade school.
Elmer and I grew up in a very small town of Wayland, MO. He came from a big family and was my best friend along with his brothers while we were in grade school. Luckily, I got to spend a little time with him before he left for the USMC. Ironically, he was hit exactly two years to the day before I enlisted in the USMC. He was an all state sports star, unlike me. For those that don't know, his brother was in the Army at the same time and brought him home. His loss affected SO many people and was a great loss to us all.
