Attack on Polei Kleng Camp (LZ Bass) - March 9, 1969

Polei Kleng Camp (LZ Bass) was a U.S. Army 4th Infantry firebase located fourteen miles northwest of Kontum in Kontum Province in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam. For a week in March 1969, the North Vietnamese Army launched 122mm rockets at the base nearly every day around noon when the troopers were lining up for chow. On March 9th, one of the projectiles made a direct hit on the mess hall, killing two men. PFC Bobby J. Rollins and PFC Timothy M. Carroll, artillerymen with B Battery, 5th Battalion, 16th Artillery, died after suffering fragmentation wounds. Thank You

Dear PFC Bobby Rollins, Thank you for your service as a Field Artillery Basic. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is Columbus Day Weekend. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.
