You were my best friend when we were in grammar school together in Waterbury. Your family moved to Watertown and my family moved to Wolcott and we never saw each other again but I loved you and thought about so frequently. I was stunned and saddened when I discovered the news on the front page of the Waterbury newspaper of your passing. It crushed me and I will remember you and that moment my entire life. Rest easy, sweet boy. Know that you were loved.

Dear PFC Gerhard Rolfs, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. I researched you on your 52nd anniversary, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is almost Columbus Day. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

We seem to be at a moment in our history where some will doubt the goodness of America, I take heart in knowing men like you served and our still serving today !
