we will remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Children of Cedar Crest, Garland, TX

We were neighbors as children. Your mother took us to church with y’all at times. You played with my brothers all the time. We lived in a great neighborhood for kids. Y’all moved, but I remember hearing your name read over the loud speaker at GHS announcing that you gave your life for our country. God bless your family for their sacrifice and thank you for your willingness to serve.

I Remember You, Danny

You were a senior my sophomore year at GHS. Your older sister Eileen was one of my sister Judy’s best friends. I remember your bright red hair and equally bright countenance as a leader and one of the coolest guys in your class. I was stunned by the news that you had been killed in Nam, the first person I knew to die in combat over there. It has stuck with me for more than half a century all that you and your family sacrificed with your death at the tender age of 20. I salute you, I thank you, and in my meager way, I remember that stud senior and your sister’s “little brother” Danny….—Alan Holman, Austin, Texas

Thank You

Dear PFC Daniel Rogers, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Your 76th birthday is this month, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is Agent Orange Awareness month. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.
