we will remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Thank You

Dear Cpl Raul Robledo, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is Autumn. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

"It's a girl!"

"It's a girl!" That was what he hollered one evening as he crawled out of his temporary small two- man bunker he had dug and made from sandbags. He had a grin as big as the sun was on his face. I will not forget that.
A chopper had just dumped mail on us and he was clutching the news in his hand which was held towards the sky like a torch. It's the best thing I'd ever seen happen in that dirty hellhole. He had these Roytan stogies that had the quote on them. I lit up with him and we laughed as we choked on the cigars. We always laughed. He could make me feel that way every time we spoke. He was as happy then as any MAN I ever knew over there. He kept that grin right up until he was killed. It was tough on us. I made the mistake of loving him as a true brother. It was the only mistake I made that I would never regret. It hurt big time and it still does. As I write this it may as well have happened just moments ago. The way things are now I have to ask myself why 'couldn't it have been me'. I didn't hold up to good after the war. I still die a little every day for him and his baby girl and lovely wife. When will it end? Maybe when I finally die. Rest in peace my Brother....I W#ILL NOT forget you!

Spec 4 Steven L. Bailey, Forward observer, 3rd Platoon, 1st Battalion 5th (mech), 25th Infantry Division.
