Thank You

Dear PO3C Donald Robertson, Thank you for your service as Gunner's Mate 3rd Class. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Yesterday was POW/MIA Recognition Day. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

We have the watch.

My Father served with you on PBR 571/522. He spoke of you and Nicholas often and frequently stressed that it was "not about the ones who made it home, but the ones who did not". When you walked in my family’s home the etchings from the Wall of your and Nicholas Cancilla's names were the first things that you saw. He never wanted to forget your sacrifice, and he wanted others to be aware of the cost of war. I grew up knowing all about you and your twin sister, whom I have now had the great pleasure in meeting. As my Father spoke about you, I now speak about you to my children so you will never be forgotten. My Father is now buried at Arlington, your sister having attended the service. Whenever we are there to visit his gravesite, we also stop at the Wall and pay our respects to you and Nicholas. Rest easy, we have the watch.
