Thank You
Dear PFC Gerrit Lynn Blanksma, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. This weekend is another Labor Day, time goes on. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. You are remembered. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering from Pequot Lakes
My brother Roger Ebert and Garrett went to Boot Camp together. We were from the same small town in Minnesota. Our family was all saddened by Garrett’s death. My Mother and Mrs. Blanksma used to talk at the store in Nisswa where she worked. His name was one of the first that I saw when visiting the Memorial Wall in DC. Unfortunately my brother was killed in a snowmobile accident a few years later. They are both laid to rest in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota.
