John and I were in Boy Scouts together and went to the same church. I was home on leave from Army Basic Training and Met John who was home on leave before leaving for Vietnam. Less than a month later I found out John had been KIA. You are a true hero, Rest in Peace.

Dear PFC John Rice, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. The fall of Afghanistan reminds me of Saigon. It is very sad. ~ In Memorium ~ .John was Junior Assistant Scoutmaster in my Boy Scout troop - Seattle Council, Troop 351, Holy Family parish. He is a brother Marine. According to what I heard over20 years ago, he was KIAed on his first day in combat.
