honoring you....
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

My cousin, Carl
I was born 6 years after Carl's passing, but my family told me of his legacy. I'm so sorry we never got to meet, but he is a true hero and I'm so proud to call him my cousin.

I remember
Carl and I went to school together from middle school on in Elmira NY. We graduated in 1968. I went to college and he went to Nam. We spent his last leave in the summer of 1970 together, and we meant a lot to each other. I got his last letter to me after his death. I can’t bear to reread it. I’m almost elderly now but he’s still 19, great tan and twinkly eyes.

Thank You
Dear PO3C Carl Raymond, Thank you for your service as a Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class with the 7th Marines, Semper Fi. Thank you for the lives you saved. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. The 57th anniversary of Gulf of Tonkin Incident is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.
