THANKS
DEA PFC BLACKBURN,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AS AN INFANTRYMAN. IT HAS BEEN FAR TOO LONG FOR ALL OF YOU TO HAVE BEEN GONE. WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU HAVE DONE, AND YOUR SACRIFICE. WATCH OVER THE U.S.A., IT STILL NEEDS YOUR COURAGE.. GOD BLESS YOU. MAY THE ANGELS BE AT YOUR SIDE. REST IN PEACE. MANY OF US HAVE BEGUN OUR JOURNEY TO EASTER. AND YOU ARE ALL IN OUR PRAYERS.

Brothers until the end.
E. Frank Blackburn and my uncle Wayne N Card (Panel 15E, Line 40) served together in Vietnam. When I asked my mother (Wayne's sister) about my uncle Wayne she told me that he died in Pleiku, Vietnam while trying to save his friend Frank during a hostile attack. Frank was hit, and without hesitation my uncle Wayne went after Frank to save his best friend. Details are sketchy, it is unclear if they were hit by mortar or small arms fire?
This is the story as my mother told it to me. However, the documentation of events do not add up, as according to the record, Wayne died on 2/16/67, and Frank died on 3/16/67? Wayne died in Kontum Province, and Frank in Pleiku Province? I am uncertain of the details but the dates are close and they were in the same vicinity, their must be some truth to the story because my uncle Wayne was awarded the Bronze Star posthumously, so he must have risked his life to save somebody? My mother is adamant about what happened to these two honorable men, these two best friends, these two brothers, who died fighting for liberty and eachother.
These brothers deserve to be remembered and reunited, and their story deserves to be told. If you have any details or information please feel free to email me...
And respectfully, to the family of E. Frank Blackburn, not a day goes by that our family doesn't remember Wayne and Frank... To this day they both equally touch our lives.
