THE WALL OF FACES

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. I am heartened you returned home after the passage of so many years though I wish it had been under very different circumstances. May you rest in eternal peace.

It is your bravery and sacrifice that has allowed my family, friends, and fellow Americans to live in safety and freedom. Saying thank you is a gross understatement. We are forever grateful.

According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) website at the below link/URL, the remains of Staff Sergeant Robert Francis Preiss Jr., U.S. Army, U.S. Special Forces, were positively identified on 17 June 1998:

As of the date of this entry, there are 1,584 Americans still unaccounted for in Southeast Asia from the Vietnam War. SSG Preiss is also one of 96 U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers still MIA. The list of those MIA SF soldiers - as well as the 416 other MIA soldiers is at this DPAA link/URL:

The name of former MIA Staff Sergeant Robert Francis Preiss Jr., U.S. Army, U.S. Special Forces, is on the U.S. Army Special Operations Command's Memorial, Vietnam War Section, located in front of the USASOC HQ building on Fort Bragg, NC.

Former MIA Staff Sergeant Robert Francis Preiss Jr., U.S. Army, U.S. Special Forces, has his name chiseled into one of the "Courts of the Missing" (Vietnam War Section/Court "B" (Army)) at the Honolulu Memorial in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific on the island of Oahu in the state of Hawaii.
