Thank You
Dear Sp4 Bobby Powell, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. The 51st anniversary of the start of your tour is soon, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Sunday was the 77th anniversary of D-Day, Operation Overlord. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU, MY FRIEND
Bobby, it's been 50 years since you left us in service of our country, but still we remember, I especially remember. My college roommate at Kentucky Wesleyan College, you kept college life interesting. I remember you as one who loved your history and political science classes, well it was your major after all. Since we shared Henderson County roots, I felt particularly close to you. I recently ran across a letter you wrote to me from Viet Nam and I feel eerily close to you while reading that. I feel it's such a terrible tragedy that you will killed there. I feel you had so much potential, so much more life to live, as did so many others we lost there. Please know that you are memorialized by a Powell Peace Award granted to a student with a political science/history major each year at Kentucky Wesleyan College. I visit your marker at the Henderson County courthouse lawn. I have visited the WALL in DC and have made a rubbing of your name. I have also visited the traveling WALL and found your name. I will never forget you my friend. Rest in peace.
