Remembrance

Howard I and another man(I don't remember his name) wounded on Jan 8th .We were 3 replacements for Bravo Co. I believe at that time we had only been in the field for 2 weeks. I was in a different platoon sent in to help Howards platoon who had been ambushed. We were driven back and had to retrieve our dead 2 or 3 days later. I will always have his face embedded in my memory. I am so sorry for his family and to our nation for losing such a great hero.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Howard Matthew Bissen, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
