Final Mission of PVT Bishop J. Franklin

On September 27, 1971, a U.S. Army helicopter OH-6A (tail number 67-16629) from C Troop, 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, was on a mission in An Xugen Province (IV Corps), RVN, when it received hostile small arms ground fire 14 miles northeast of Ap Da Bac. The aircraft crashed and burned with the loss of both crewmen. The lost aircrew included pilot CPT Rogers H. Gale and gunner PVT Bishop J. Franklin. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org and vhpa.org]
