honoring you....

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.

THAT OLD OAK TREE

I VISIT YOUR SITE AT WHITE CHAPEL CEMETERY OFTEN. YOU ARE INTERNED JUST FEET FROM RON TILLERY WHO WAS A HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATE AND WAS KILLED 5 DAYS AFTER YOU. I ALWAYS AM TAKEN BACK TO THAT SUMMER DAY IN THE PARK WHEN YOU, MY BROTHER BILL, STEVE SWEENEY, AND I WERE RELAXING IN THE OLD OAK TREE. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED, GEORGE. MY COUSIN WAS KIA ON 8/12/1968 WHILE SERVING WITH AMERICAL. I SERVED WITH THE MARINE CORPS IN THE WAR. SEVEN MARINES I SERVED WITH WERE KILLED DURING MY TOUR AND ONE WAS CAPTURED WHO CAME HOME IN ‘73.

Thank You

Dear Sp5 Richard Platter, Thank you for your service as a Medical NCO with the 1st Cavalry. Thank you for the lives you saved. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Memorial Day is this next weekend when the nation remembers all our lost. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.
