we will remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Thank You

Dear PFC Ronald Pierce, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman, Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today is the 46th anniversary of the last day of battle of the Vietnam War. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

So long ago, but it seems like yesterday

Ron, I was a 16 year old kid when you were killed in Vietnam. I came from the same neighborhood, went to school with your sister Carol for a couple of years at St Jeans. Remember seeing you from time to time growing up and even caught a glimpse of you in your dress blues when you were home on leave. You were the first from our neighborhood to pay the ultimate price in Vietnam. It was so surreal. Little did I know that I would be serving in that same war less than 5 years later. It was along way from home and maybe not as long ago as it seems. Semper Fi.
