thank you

Thank you Sir, for paying the supreme sacrifice for the sake of others. I am a student of Gridley High School in Illinois, and am doing an extra credit project on the virtual wall. I cannot imagine the horrible circumstances you were put through in your dedication to serving America. I can only hope that if I am put in a similar situation I will have the courage you possessed in laying down your life for Americans. Your actions will never be forgotten.

Gone but not forgotten

George and I were Air Force brats at Hunter Air Force
Base Georgia. We attended H V Jenkins high school
together for our senior year. We only knew each other
for that year, but it was quite a year. George, Bob
Anderson and I were together all the time. We were sons
of military officers and did what all good sons do. We
enlisted in the military and went to Vietnam. George
was KIA before I went in-country. George had a back
condition that could have kept him out of the military
but he was all American and enlisted. I was stationed
in Japan at the time of his death.
There has not been a day in the last 35 years that I
have not thought of him. I left a shirt at the wall in
Washington with the following note inside.
"Dear George I'm waiting to have a drink in Saigon.
I miss you. I wish it had been me. Michael". I know little
of his Vietnam service. If anyone can give me information
I would be elated. I celebrate his life and memory.
